Krás is one of the biggest professional slaughterhouses in the Faroese Islands. The new masterplan for the expansion and renovation of the company’s sheep-slaughterhouse in Hósvík consists of 3 individual stages of which the first is now completed.
The overall design of the new complex focuses on creating an optimal workflow for the products and making the individual processes of the slaughter as easy as possible. The first stage of the expansion is now complete and adds on to the existing building providing a new space for lamb slaughtering.
A slaughterhouse is normally a closed-of building but as an untraditional element a long narrow window in the side of the new building makes the company’s activities visible and allows workers and visitors of the harbor area to get a glimpse of the slaughter process going on inside the building.
