About

In the heart of Tórshavn, a line of old warehouses overlooks the harbor and one of the city’s central squares. The line of warehouses dates back to 1920 where they were a part of the busy trade of the harbor. Today the area is home to cafes and small market stands. In order to bring new life to the buildings and contribute more to the life of the area, ZETA has drawn a proposal for a renovation of the old warehouses. The renovation will bring back some of the warehouses original appearance and introduce new public functions in the lower floors.

Through the years, the facade of the warehouses has changed as the original door openings for goods have been closed off or replaced by windows. As a part of the renovation the facade will be brought back to its original appearance. The many door openings that were originally used to bring in goods will now serve as entrances and views into the new public functions in the lower floors and thereby help open the building up to the surrounding harbor area.

A redesign of the outdoor area will make a new space for outdoor service in the summertime while the upper floors will be used for new offices overlooking the harbor.
